January Newsletter

It is the New Year! Sharon and I hope your Holidays were as fun as ours were this year. As we look forward to the New Year, I have great anticipation for what the Lord is going to do through our lives, our families, and our church. I know for many of you 2009 was very challenging, and you are probably glad that you were able to put it behind you as we move into 2010.

We now face this New Year with all of its possibilities. Our church faces many challenges financially, but I am so grateful for those of you that have prayed seriously, given sacrificially, and stood in faith with me for the needs to be met. I know that together with God Almighty’s help we can accomplish anything. Praise the Lord.

If you have been at services with us in the New Year, you know that I have been preaching on, “the Elijah Generation.” I have seen such a great response to this series of messages. Probably more than I have seen with any message I have ever preached. I have received notes from people, repenting of their sins, reviving in their hearts, and letting me know that they want more from their relationship with Christ than what they have been experiencing.

November Letter

Dear Partner,

I am so grateful for your partnership with Amazing Grace Ministries. Together, we are seeing incredible ministry take place, both at the Church and through the ministries we partner with. Ministries like our Helping Hands Outreach that is impacting lives every week through assisting hurting people in both their physical and spiritual needs. Sharon and I really have a burden for the hurting, broken, and poor of our communities. We are overwhelmed at times with the many needs that exist today, but we should never let that stop us from helping as many as we can.

Recently, Sharon and I were in Detroit to encourage one of our members, and while we were at a stop light we saw a very drawn, thin, African American woman standing by the side of the road. She was holding a small sign up that said, “Please Help!” Many cars went by her ignoring her plea for help, and amazingly she never looked angry or hurt, she just kept smiling and holding up her sign.

October Letter from Pastor

Dear Ministry Friend,

I know for many of you, it has been difficult with job loss, pay cuts, layoffs, and the loss of benefits. I realize at times it can feel like we have lost total control of our economics. But, God is faithful to His word, and as we continue to honor His word in our giving, He has declared that He will pour out a blessing that we don’t have the capacity to receive. (Malachi 3:10)

Sharon and I have practiced this principle of God’s Word for almost 30 years, even when our combined income was just $300 a month. We tithed $30, paid our rent of $200, and paid everything else with the $70 we had left. During that time we spent $25 a month on groceries for 3 of us. Amazing isn’t it?
